Bikeboost is a scheme set up to promote and support cycling to and from work in urban areas. It’s delivered all over the country by Get Cycling, long-standing Castlegate IT clients and experts in all things bike. It’s a complete package providing bike loans and cycle training for participants.
Our contribution to the project was a sophisticated bespoke (no pun intended) online system to manage the various BikeBoost challenges. Participants can register their interest and fill in an online questionnaire about their current commuting habits. People are selected to take part based on this information and the number of places available, and they are then given an account within the BikeBoost site.
Once admitted, participants can log into their account on the BikeBoost website and record their experiences and progress throughout the challenge, keeping track of the distances logged by themselves and their colleagues. The scheme can be run as competitively or supportively as the clients want.
The system is continually growing in complexity and flexibility as the project has developed and adapted to meet local needs all over the country. We’ve developed local administration, branding and a range of incentives and facilities to make the website a vital way of engaging participants in the programme.
