York has for decades been establishing itself at the forefront of green chemistry and agricultural research in the UK. BioVale promotes and connects businesses and researchers to drive innovation in the emerging bioeconomy across Yorkshire and the Humber. The sector has expanded beyond all recognition over the past decade, and their basic website was creaking under the strain of the additional functionality being added to it. BioVale needed to update their web presence.
We submitted a tender for the job along with our frequent collaborators, Bivouac. Bivouac have extensive experience in working with science and academia, and for this project they took care of a complete rebrand and design of the new website.
The requirements were quite extensive: as well as a content managed responsive website featuring news, events and case studies, they wanted a membership management system with an area of the site reserved for members. Within this section members can submit information about their activities. There is also a listing directory of members and a method by which BioVale can import and export membership data through a spreadsheet. Outside of the members’ area there is an application form and a series of focus areas which gather related news, events and case studies together.
