York Museum Gardens
York Museum Gardens was established as part of the Yorkshire Museum in the 1830s by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society and is now managed by York Museums Trust. This new website builds on our existing work for the Trust, which includes a full suite of WordPress-based sites for each of their historic and culturally important venues around the city.
This site was designed by our in-house designer Connor, who combined the established Trust branding with the gardens’ distinctive character to create an attractive, usable, and accessible design. Like the other York Museums Trust sites, it is a bespoke WordPress installation, hand-coded at Castlegate IT.
A major new feature of the site is the Squirrel Trail. This is an interactive quiz for children visiting the gardens. The site uses responsive design so that it works well on mobile devices, so you can follow the trail on your smartphone as you walk around the gardens.
