Showcasing craft and design online: websites for property and trade specialists

For businesses built on craftsmanship, materials, or physical spaces, a website often forms a prospective client’s first impression of the quality of the work itself. Photography, layout, and navigation all play an important role in helping visitors understand what sets a business apart, building confidence before they ever make contact.

Castlegate has worked with four businesses across the property and trade sectors, each requiring a website that reflected the quality of its work in a different way. Below, we look at the projects we delivered for Lincoln Ralph, Belgravia Stone, Astek Garden Design & Build, and Ben Johnson Interiors, demonstrating how thoughtful design and bespoke development can showcase craftsmanship online.

Lincoln Ralph

With more than 20 years in the South Yorkshire property market, Lincoln Ralph had the reputation, but its website was undermining it: outdated, difficult to navigate, and lacking the information prospective clients wanted before booking a valuation.

We reorganised the site with a clearer structure, bringing the latest property listings to the homepage and introducing a dual-carousel gallery that allows buyers to browse more images with fewer clicks. A live integration with Lincoln Ralph’s property management system keeps listings accurate without manual updates, while dynamically displayed testimonials and refreshed staff profiles reinforce the local knowledge and trust that underpin the business.

The result is a website that better reflects Lincoln Ralph’s reputation while making it easier for buyers and sellers to explore properties and enquire with confidence.

Belgravia Stone

Belgravia Stone’s craftsmanship spoke for itself, but with no website, prospective architects, designers, and homeowners had little opportunity to assess the business before making contact. In a premium market, where first impressions are increasingly formed online, this presented a significant limitation.

We designed a clean, understated interface that allows the stonework to remain the primary focus. A filterable catalogue helps visitors compare quartz, marble, and granite before making an enquiry, while a detailed quotation form captures the information needed to qualify projects from the outset.

The result is a website that reflects the quality of Belgravia Stone’s craftsmanship while encouraging more informed and better-qualified enquiries.

Astek Garden Design & Build

Astek had built a strong reputation over 30 years through word of mouth, but its website did not reflect the scale or quality of its work, nor explain what clients could expect from a project from initial consultation through to completion.

We structured the website around Astek’s own design and build process, guiding prospective clients through consultation, design, material selection, and delivery before they ever make contact. A dedicated projects section showcases completed Yorkshire gardens through professional photography, while a video-led homepage and integrated consultation booking form encourage visitors to take the next step.

The result is a website that demonstrates Astek’s expertise while helping prospective clients understand both the quality of the work and the process behind it.

Ben Johnson Interiors

Ben Johnson Interiors was evolving towards a bolder, more colourful visual identity while retaining its established logo, and needed a website capable of supporting that change. With a strong library of photography and video already available, the challenge was creating a design system that the in-house team could continue to expand without relying on developer support.

We built the website around bold colour blocking alongside Ben Johnson’s own photography and video, while maintaining full WCAG accessibility compliance so visual impact never comes at the expense of usability. A library of reusable content blocks and page templates, built around the company’s typography and colour palette, enables the team to create new sector pages confidently, while existing case studies were redesigned to feel fully integrated with the new visual identity.

The result is a flexible website that strengthens the company’s evolving brand while giving its team the tools to manage future growth independently.
