St Nicks
St Nicks is an environment centre and local nature reserve near the centre of York. Over the last 20 years, St Nicks has transformed a former landfill site into a centre for nature and green living. In addition to providing a valuable habitat for local wildlife, St Nicks Environment Centre is a venue for meetings, seminars, and other events.
We were asked to design and develop a new website for St Nicks, which would replace their old site and separate blog. This was more than just an aesthetic change: the new site would be a responsive site that would work well on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers. Our design process considered all these devices from the beginning to make sure everyone can get the most of the site.
The bright, modern, and accessible design is complemented by a brand new, custom WordPress admin system. This makes it easy for St Nicks staff to update the site, write news and blog articles, upload galleries of images, and add events with Events Manager Pro. We also included social links and a Twitter feed to tie the site into St Nicks’ existing online identity.
